Renet Symyrenka Apple
Developed by Lev Symyrenko, a renowned pomologist, in the 1880s.

Simirenko Apple (Malus domestica 'Renet Symyrenka') is a fruit-bearing heritage cultivar with a distinguished history, developed by renowned Ukrainian pomologist Lev Simirenko in the 1880s. The breeder pursued an ambitious goal: to create a variety combining exceptional flavour, excellent storage quality, and reliability in Ukrainian climatic conditions. The result exceeded expectations — the apple quickly gained popularity not only throughout Ukraine but internationally, becoming one of the most significant achievements of domestic agricultural science.
The tree blooms with delicate white flowers in April and May, creating the appearance of snowy caps along the branches. It develops an elegant, compact crown of moderate size that holds its shape well and remains ornamentally attractive throughout the growing season. The fruits are truly distinctive: smooth, golden-green with a subtle blush, possessing an unmistakable honeyed flavour and remaining long on the branches. This is a classic dessert-type variety, rightfully occupying an honoured place in collectors' gardens.
In the garden, Simirenko thrives in sunny locations with loamy soil — precisely the conditions found throughout Central and Southern Ukraine. Watering should be regular but moderate, as the tree is quite resilient and undemanding in its care requirements. It pairs beautifully in garden compositions with other apples and pears, creating harmonious fruit-bearing plantings.
If you dream of growing apples that truly enrich your garden space and deliver abundant harvests, Simirenko awaits you. This is a plant with character, with Ukrainian heritage and the enduring affection of gardeners across generations.
