Rockspray Cotoneaster is one of the most elegant creeping plants, originating from the mountainous regions of China. This compact shrub has conquered European and world gardens for centuries with its undemanding nature and unsurpassed beauty. Today it has become a favorite of gardeners who value practicality without sacrificing aesthetics.

It is easy to recognize this cotoneaster by its remarkable architecture: the branches are arranged gradually, in layers, like a graphic drawing on the ground. In spring, delicate pink flowers shimmer delicately among the foliage, and autumn brings a true feast of colour—bright red berries densely cover the branches, creating the effect of a living jewelled necklace. In frost, they do not fall but remain until spring, delighting the eye during grey winter days.

In garden design, this plant is a universal helper. It beautifully covers open areas of soil, holds earth on slopes, looks lovely amongst stone in an alpine rockery or along a garden path. Partners for it are easy to find: juniper, box and spirea create harmonious compositions with the cotoneaster, each plant enhancing the beauty of the others.

But perhaps its greatest virtue is that birds absolutely adore its berries. With the first frosts, bullfinches, thrushes and other migratory birds hasten to the branches, transforming your garden into a living ornithological paradise. It is not simply a plant for beauty—it is an invitation for wildlife into your yard.
