Pine Needle Cast

Browning and shedding of needles, usually the previous year's growth. Small black fruiting bodies visible on dead needles. Affects pines, spruces and other conifers.

Remove fallen needles and affected branches. Apply copper-based or sulfur fungicides in spring. Ensure good air circulation around plants. Water at the base to keep foliage dry.
